Electric utilities account for nearly 50% of the global CO2 emissions and the measures they take will play a key role in reducing CO2 emissions. Many initiatives are currently underway to decarbonize power supply, ranging from grid modernization and smart grid initiatives to increased renewables, nuclear power, the use of zero-carbon fuels, and post combustion capture.
In 2021, the USDOE selected CORMETECH to advance the development of solid honeycomb CO2 adsorbers. Unlike conventional liquid amine-based removal technologies, embedding the sorbents in the pore structure of the honeycomb absorber allows for removal systems that require lower up front capital, a smaller footprint and significantly lower energy costs to deliver an extremely cost effective point source capture system technology. Building on more than 30 years of proven experience in the SCR market, CORMETECH’s technology utilizes a sorbent embedded into the pore structure of the honeycomb structure which eliminates the need to circulate sorbent between a conventional absorber and regeneration towers where CO2 is removed. In addition, unique system design features are incorporated with the adsorber to provide lower capital and energy/operating costs associated with a liquid amine system.
In this informative webinar, CORMETECH will discuss recent advances in carbon capture technology applicable to large-scale commercial deployments.
Specific topics to be discussed include:
- Decarbonization & CO2 emission reduction strategies
- Opportunities & challenges associated with CCUS
- CORMETECH’s PSC Solution
- Invitation to participate in growth of the technology
- Other related technology and market considerations
